Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction with expert graft selection and sports-specific rehabilitation — get back to full activity with confidence and cashless insurance support.
Understanding the Procedure
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is a key stabilising ligament of the knee that controls rotation and forward movement of the shin bone. ACL tears — most often caused by sudden pivoting, jumping, or direct contact in sport — result in immediate instability, swelling, and pain.
ACL reconstruction is an arthroscopic surgery in which the torn ligament is replaced with a tendon graft, most commonly taken from the patient's own hamstring or patellar tendon (autograft). The graft is anchored into bone tunnels at the exact anatomic position of the original ACL.
Swasth City partners with experienced sports orthopaedic surgeons in Vadodara who perform high-volume arthroscopic reconstructions, offering excellent graft placement accuracy and the full rehabilitation support needed for a safe return to sport.
Why Choose Us
Step by Step
Describe how the injury occurred — a sudden pivot, landing awkwardly, or contact. Care Partner arranges orthopedic consultation and knee MRI to confirm ACL tear and check for associated meniscal damage.
Surgeon evaluates tear grade, associated injuries, and your activity goals to select the ideal graft (hamstring, patellar tendon, or allograft) and surgical approach.
Pre-authorisation processed and all admission formalities completed by your Care Partner coordinator. Pre-operative physiotherapy may be recommended to strengthen muscles around the knee.
Torn ACL is replaced with a tendon graft through small arthroscopic incisions under general or spinal anaesthesia. Associated meniscal tears are repaired simultaneously.
Structured rehabilitation begins the day after surgery. Care Partner coordinates physiotherapy sessions and follow-up consultations at Week 2, Month 1, Month 3, and Month 6.
Healing Journey
Week 1–2
Crutches used initially. Physiotherapy starts Day 1 — ice, elevation, gentle range-of-motion exercises. Follow-up consultation at Week 2.
Month 1–2
Crutches discontinued. Quadriceps and hamstring strengthening exercises progress. Stationary cycling introduced. Swelling resolves.
Month 3–4
Jogging and swimming introduced. Proprioception training and agility exercises begin. Follow-up at Month 3 with functional assessment.
Month 6–9
Sport-specific training and gradual return to non-contact drills. Full return to contact sports cleared after passing objective functional tests at Month 9.
