Understanding the Procedure
Rotator cuff repair is surgery to fix one or more torn tendons of the rotator cuff — the group of four muscles and tendons surrounding the shoulder joint. A torn rotator cuff causes pain, weakness, and inability to lift or rotate the arm.
Arthroscopic repair is performed through 3–4 small portals (5–7mm) using a camera and specialised instruments. The torn tendon is reattached to the bone using titanium or bioabsorbable suture anchors — restoring full shoulder strength and range of motion after rehabilitation.

Structured rehabilitation protocol: in-hospital physio from Day 1, outpatient rehab through Month 6
Step by Step
Share shoulder MRI and symptom history. Care Partner arranges orthopaedic surgeon consultation to classify tear severity (partial, full-thickness, massive).
Surgeon recommends arthroscopic repair technique, anchor type, and rehabilitation protocol based on tear pattern, tissue quality, and patient age and activity level.
Pre-authorisation processed, daycare/inpatient admission arranged, and all paperwork completed by your dedicated Care Partner coordinator.
Camera and instruments inserted through small portals. Torn tendon reattached to the bone using suture anchors under general anaesthesia. Bursectomy and acromioplasty performed if needed.
Shoulder immobilised in sling for 4–6 weeks. Physio begins with pendulum exercises from Day 1. Care Partner coordinates outpatient rehabilitation sessions and follow-up at Week 2, Week 6, and Month 3.
What to Expect
Week 1–6
Shoulder in sling. Pendulum and gentle range-of-motion exercises start from Day 1. Swelling managed with ice.

Month 3–4
Rotator cuff strengthening exercises. Return to light manual work. Swimming from Month 3.
